The Daily Dick: A Study in Leadership

From All Astir

"But when a man suspects any wrong, it sometimes happens that if he be already involved in the matter, he insensibly strives to cover up his suspicions even from himself."

Study: Throughout Moby-Dick, we see how tragic events often follow scenes where characters did not listen to their gut reactions about decisions leaders did or did not take. One could argue, in fact, that Starbuck is the perfect example of what happens when we remain quiet in the face of wrong or evil. Members of the Republican party today must acknowledge that our country is being led in the wrong direction by a leader who is not considerate of the needs of our nation as a whole. Having members of the Republican party cover up those suspicions is making things so much worse for our nation. Strong leaders respond to their gut by speaking out even when it takes them away from the dominant group-think. These are the times when real leaders can emerge. If you suspect wrong, Republicans, and you must suspect wrong, speak out. Now.
